Off-Portal Content In U.S.

News.com has a gee-whiz story on off-portal content, and how it is begining to take off in U.S. Interesting figure: There are roughly 180 million cell phone subscribers worldwide today, but only about 74 million currently buy content for their phones, according to Bango, who has solutions for off-portal sales (Disclaimer: one of our advertisers) The remaining 106 million mobile consumers who are only using their phone’s voice services could turn into data customers down the road.
Then there’s the usual line about carriers in U.S. looking to open up their networks…sure, when they do it, let me know.
