Capcom Plans Mobile Move

Capcom LogoCapcom Entertainment is planning to release its games on mobile phones… Games mentioned as preparing for mobilization are Ghosts and Goblins, Resident Evil and Mega Man — no mention of the popular Street Fighter series, which is kind of strange. Still, the new LA-based division promises “an initial output of more than 10 dedicated mobile titles in the coming year”.
“Our main objective is to establish Capcom’s new division and provide unique game play integration between wireless, online and console sectors. Our new facility in Los Angeles will house all of our mobile and interactive media offerings and we are looking to make our mark in the mobile entertainment industry,” she added.
Other game news:
I-Play has released 20 questions, based on the classic kids car trip game. I tried it out at CTIA, and it guessed my rhinocerous after 14 (sometimes pretty odd) questions. The fun in this game will come from trying to beat the phone without actually lying.
Pixar is taking a more active interest in mobile game development, teaming up with THQ to work on “The Incredibles: Rise of the Underminer”, which is not based on a film but is set in the world of The Incredibles. “As a filmmaker, you always want to leave the audience wanting more,” Andrews said. “Video games can fulfill some of that need. Fans can watch the film and then play the game based on the film. And now fans can play a video game sequel to the film.”
