Verizon Wireless has added a whole bunch of stuff to its content portal Mobile Web 2.0… I was first informed via a press release from GoComics.
GoComics, the mobile comics brand of uclick mobile, and m-Qube, a leading mobile channel enabler, have teamed up to bring daily comic strips to Verizon Wireless Mobile Web 2.0 customers.
“Mobile Web 2.0 is available for a $5.00 monthly access, plus airtime. GoComics is a premium application and is available for an additional monthly fee of $1.99 added to the $5.00 Mobile Web 2.0 monthly access cost”. GoComics has a lot of good, well known comic strips on its service which people will undoubtedly be willing to pay for… but if the whole selection is included for two bucks that’s an amazingly good deal. Verizon has also added Dilbert, which is not a part of GoComics.
Also added is EB Games by mPoria…
And some new things from Cutlass which I find quite odd: Fookie, a combination “fortune” and “cookie”, is a zero-calorie fortune cookie delivered fresh to customers’ Mobile Web2.0-capable phones. “Chocked full of hundreds of wise sayings, Fookie offers a fun fortune in either English or French with every click of the phone’s keypad. Customers needing some extra luck can look under each fortune for one of six, double-digit “lucky” numbers.” That’s reasonably normal, but Cutlass apparently thinks there’s a market for people who want to look at other people’s pets — “Pet-Pals is a specially designed photo album of pet pictures from around the world that allows Mobile Web 2.0 customers to easily store and share photos of their favorite pets directly to wireless phones. With multiple options to choose from, Pet-Pals will keep pet lovers entertained for hours”. Actually, there probably is a market for this…
