Channel 4 Offers Popworld Through Rok TV

PopworldUK’s Channel 4 has continued its move into the mobile space with a new partner, Rok TV. The music show Popworld will be broadcast immediately following its weekend broadcast on C4 and E4…it will join 10 other channels currently available on Rok TV including Cartoon Network, ITN, CNN and National Geographic. “The images are broadcast to appear in wide screen”…that’s the first time I’ve heard mobile described as “wide screen”, but you know what they mean…
Channel 4 has announced it wants to be the leading broadcaster in mobile TV and appears to be trying every delivery channel, possibly to work out which one is best.
Also, ITV is putting more mobile effort into its I’m a Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here series…The new services will include a 24-hour live video portal and a video blog service which will allow fans to leave messages for the show. Host Tara Palmer-Tomkinson will film an exclusive daily video diary for the WAP site, which will also include “exclusive video previews of the chilling challenges which lie ahead”.
“The last six months have seen the momentum of mobile video significantly increase across the entire mobile value chain and broadcasters now understand not only the value of these services to viewers, but also the commitment which needs to be made in terms of revenue and resources to ensure that content is well-produced”, commented Barry Houlihan, Managing Director, Mobile Interactive Group, which is handling the mobile content for the show.
