Lee Enterprises bucks a major newspaper trend and breaks out its online numbers. Including the St. Louis Post-Dispatch and other Pulitzer properties acuired mid-2005, total online advertising for FY4Q05 came to $7.6 million, up 143 percent. Operating revenue from online services “and other” came to $6.86 million, up 13 percent. For the fiscal year ending Sept. 30, Lee reported total online ad revenue of $19.2 million, up 73.4 percent of FY04. the “online services and other” category was up 7 percent to $27.6 million.
Net earnings came out to 29 cents per share for FY4Q05, down 38.3 percent from FY4Q04, and $1.70 for the year, down 11 percent from FY04.
September numbers: Online advertising is up 32.5 percent to $1.4 million; the percentage increase is in line with other newspaper companies. The “online services and other” category was up 17.1 percent for the month, to $2.1 million. Earnings release | September. .
