Proximus has signed up Jamba (the European version of Jamster) to provide customers with premium music downloads on its Vodafone Live multimedia portal in Belgium… I’m not sure what the relationship is between Proximus and Vodafone.
“Consumers will be able to choose from more than 50,000 tracks on the Proximus portal, which is being populated to host more than 250,000 songs within six months. Users can download a 30-second preview of all songs free of charge. Once downloaded from the Proximus web site, users can listen to individual tracks as often as they like, but, in line with Digital Rights Management (DRM) best practices, downloaded songs cannot be shared between mobile users.” The press release doesn’t mention the cost of the songs…
One interesting point is that there are several languages in Belgium, so the site recognizes the language settings on each phone and adapts the portal content to that, in English, French or German.
