That’s an interesting question posed after a visit to an IIC (International Institute Of Communications) event last week. I’m used to hearing that mobile TV/video will be the saviour of telcos who spent too much money on 3G licenses, but at this event “representatives from a diverse group of media industries including MTV and BT were prophesizing mobile TV is the saviour of TV”, which is an interesting twist. The argument is that TV viewed on mobile phones is additional to TV viewed elsewhere (such as computers, or indeed the traditional box), and thus will increase viewing hours.
