USA Today tech columnist Edward Baig likes nearly everything about the Sprint Music Store — the instant downloads, the store’s design, the song portability. But Sprint hit the wrong notes for Baig when it priced the songs at $2.50 a pop. He explains the carrier’s reasoning: people will pay a premium for instant access and they’re actually buying multiple high-quality copies of the same song for mobile and PC; the PC songs can be ported to some other portable devices. He just doubts that convenience will be enough to make up for the difference in pricing between Sprint anf other music download services. He doesn’t offer an optimal price point but I’d sale a 50-cent premium for ultimate convenience should be enough.
