News Corp-controlled satellite TV provider DirecTV says it plans to work with “an array of partners” to bring its video to devices other than TV, a day after Sprint Nextel unveiled a JV with cable cos. to offer TV to cellphones.
CEO Chase Carey said the company would unveil some of the new devices at Jan CES.
Meanwhile the company is launching its first original programming series…it has given the go-ahead to “CD USA,” an adaptation of a British format that showcases live performances weekly from chart-topping artists, as well as music news and interview segments. It is scheduled to premiere Jan. 21. In a bit of synergy, the company will will also partner with sister company MySpace.com, to showcase the artists there as well as cross-promote the new show.
