The Product Manager for Synacor will be responsible for the planning & definition of product requirements, provide technical oversight, and be a liaison between deployment teams and engineering to facilitate technical issue escalation and prioritization of engineering resources.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
– Develops product requirements that meet business objectives. Coordinates and communicates with business, technical and operations groups to understand objectives and limitations of each group and incorporate feedback into thorough, well-written product requirements.
– Ensures that relevant parties are informed of product status, especially pertaining to the addition or removal of features, and overall product deliverables.
– Incorporates user feedback and product data into product design to provide a user experience that promotes maximum subscriber growth and member retention. Acts as key product spokesperson. Serves as a voice of the customer and customer experience advocate within the company with regard to product decisions that will impact the user experience, within the context of overall business needs.
– Creates and manages business models, including an understanding of how product implementation options at various points of the product lifecycle can impact a product’s success in the marketplace. Manages product to maximize business objectives as determined by senior management.
– Maintains complete familiarity with the assigned product lines and good familiarity across UOL product spectrum. Maintains excellent ongoing knowledge of competitors’ various product lines, including products in development or testing. Performs market research to understand internal and external customer requirements, as well as the competitive environment as it relates to Company product plans.
– Evaluates third party products and vendors for potential partnerships and implements any chosen partners pursuant to deal terms and specifications. Supports business and corporate development with contract reviews, technical and market feasibility analysis.
– Product Launch/Support: Works closely with Product Marketing to ensure smooth product launches with appropriately timed marketing campaigns. Coordinates with CRM (Customer Care) to ensure adequate product knowledge and support and with other relevant operational groups to ensure smooth product launches. Works closely with Project Managers to ensure full technical preparation for planning and launching product testing and rollouts. Helps support product development through monitoring customer feedback during testing phases and after product has been released. Gathers requirements for subsequent product updates.
– Performs Product Marketing responsibilities such as copywriting, promotion, planning, and sign up initiatives on products when appropriate.
– Develops product roadmaps that outline the future strategy and phases for assigned products.
– Proactively identifies process improvements and works to achieve consensus and drive implementation.
Educational Requirements and Qualifications:
– Three to five years Product Management experience
– Bachelor’s Degree, preferably a technical and or marketing degree
– Demonstrated ability to effectively multi-task with ability to lead a cross-functional team and show progress on every task
– Good judgment in key issue identification and resolution spanning multiple departments throughout the customer deployment lifecycle
– Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written
– Ability to work well with teams of people
– Ability to plan and execute on that plan
– Knowledge of the portal and content space an added plus.
