Revver Gets Funding From Draper, Bessemer

As we mentioned in a short note last night, a new online video sharing and advertising site Revver has been launched, co-founded by Freenet P2P developer Ian Clarke. The LA-based startup has received first round funding by Bessemer Venture Partners, Draper Fisher Jurvetson and Draper Richards, though the amount was not disclosed.

As this CNET story says, Revver adds a new touch beyond just video uploading online, inserting code into the video itself that adds a small ad every time it is viewed, even if the video is downloaded and distributed from another site.

That allows the company to update the ads in real time, and keep close track of how often the file is being used. Revver splits the revenue for each ad equally with the content creator.
