Ghost House Picture Launches Mobile Service

Ghost House PicturesGhost House Pictures — makers of such horror movies as The Grudge and the upcoming Rise — has launched a mobile service just in time for Halloween in the US.
Called Ghosthouse Mobile the service will offer unique horror based programming, mini-featurettes, scares and tricks amidst traditional mobile functions such as horror specific wallpaper, ringtones and special text messaging.
“The mobile phone presents an incredible opportunity to dream up new and exciting forms of horror content as well as build a real community for horror fans all over the world,” said Sam Raimi. “It is an extraordinary time to be a content creator and we want to make the most of it.”
This indicates an eagerness to do more with mobile content than simply promote movies via ringtones, wallpapers and games, which is a welcome change from the normal tack taken by movie studios. The company is also using physical goods to promote its mobile content: “Every month we’ll be giving away special movie memorabilia to Ghost House Mobile horror fan’s, starting with Evil Dead posters autographed by Sam Raimi. You can win one of these posters by downloading any content from Ghost House Mobile during November.”
