We’ve mentioned before the parlor game of tracking the popularity of podcasting by watching the Google results. Here’s another measure: according to a search for the word “podcast” in the archives, this morning’s podcasting article marks the 29th time podcasts have been mentioned in the New York Times. (That includes a correction.) The archive results show the number of articles per section — and podcasting has made appearances across the paper. Does that mean Times’ editors believe podcasting has penetrated the consciousness of its readers? Not quite. Almost exactly a year after the first article appeared, the headline on today’s look at how and why people podcast uses “podcast” but the lead still includes a definition.
