Microsoft Gets Hand Slapped Over Proposed Marketing Plan

U.S. District Judge Colleen Kollar-Kotelly chided Microsoft for a marketing plan that would have required portable device manufacturers to include only Microsoft Media Player at retail. Her comments came during a status conference on the company’s fulfillment of the consent decree in its federal antitrust settlement. Microsoft junked the draft propoosal within 10 days after concerns were raised and never formally sent it to manufacturers but the judge suggested that it even happened could indicate a problem with the compliance process. In what AP called it a “rare display of indignation,” the judge said, “It seems to me that at this date, you should not be having something like this occur.”
