There’s not a great deal outlined here, but of course mobile was included…Ian Pearson, futurist in residence at British Telecommunications has predicted a trend towards simplicity in devices rather than the “all-in-one” approach favored today. I don’t know how that will apply to mobiles as they become internet-enabled multimedia centers…I think handsets will continue to add features, but people are still going to want specialist devices because they do one job better.
The second trend is “mobile socialization”, where people will use phones to interact with a group and society as a whole…”How about mapping programs that show us whether anyone we’d like to see is nearby. Or a mobile reference modeled on Wikipedia that can tell us if the restaurant on the corner is any good.” Of course, both these things are around already in one form or another, but there was an interesting point raised about giving people the ability to control who has access to their information to maintain their privacy…
