Mobile ESPN, the sports MVNO in the works for nearly a year, is placing its bet on Best Buy as the chain most likely to help it achieve launch success. Best Buy will have a 60-day exclusive window as the national “bricks-and-mortar” distributor starting with the Super Bowl launch Feb. 5, 2006. Best Buy stores also will be the only places where Mobile ESPN products can be obtained when sales start Nov. 1 in four “pre-launch” markets — Austin, Minneapolis, Reno, and San Antonio. The first phone will be the Sanyo MVP.Mobile ESPN will be available online in time for the holiday season; ESPN is the exclusive online retailer.
