Comedy Central has released some more details of its upcoming broadband video service called Motherload (we reported on it here first)..it will launch Nov 1st, and is being sponsored by Verizon. It will consist of five streamed channels, which will feature content and clips from off-Comedy Central shows including TV Funhouse, Strangers with Candy, and Viva Variety, as well as short films, cartoon, and TV listings.
On the drawing board are movie reviews, a sketch comedy series and mor animation.
MediaWeek: Beth Lewand, Comedy Centrals’ vp of digital media, added that next year, the network is exploring conducting a competition among Motherload fans that will solicit user-generated video content.
Jason Hirschhorn, senior vp of digital media for MTV Networks, added that the network would continue to explore unique deals with major Web portals like Yahoo to premiere programming, but that those deals could not happen without also promoting the Motherload brand.
