London-based mobile sports agency Sportev has been snapped up by UK sports news and information giant PA Sport. It signals PA Sport’s intention to “further strengthen its ability to service demand for sports video, images and data content from the rapidly expanding mobile and broadband internet markets”.
Sportev, founded by Will Muirhead and Ben Loring in 1999, has a client list which includes the likes of FIFA, the FA Premier League, England rugby, Serie A football, the International Tennis Federation, the England & Wales Cricket Board and the Dutch Premier League.
Netimperative: It currently provides in-match goal videos from the FA Premier League to 3G mobile networks in 33 countries worldwide and from the UEFA Champions League to Vodafone Operating Companies in 16 countries across Europe. Sportev also own a number of new media assets, including 3G rights to the FA Premier League in Hong Kong and South Korea.
NMA: PA Sport covers 40 major sports across 100 countries. The company supplies newspapers, magazines, TV and radio stations, and Web sites with information.
