Industry Moves: Yahoo Appoints Deanna Brown As Health GM; Overture CEO Leaves

Yahoo is continuing with its senior level hires: it has appointed Deanna Brown as general manager of Yahoo Health, a division (and sector) which is getting some serious attention now. (Some inside baseball here, in more ways than one: Deanna was our–Staci and mine–CEO at Inside.com, back in the days when we both worked there).

Brown joins Yahoo!most recently from lifestyle magazine Breathe Media, where she was CEO and publisher (so what happened to that..didn’t do that well?). Previous to Breathe Media, she served as a VP at AOL, leading the company’s programming efforts in health and living. She was also the early exec. team on Conde Nast-owned Epicurious.com.

Related news: Ted Meisel, the head of Yahoo Search Marketing (YSM) who came to the company with the Overture acquisition two years ago (he was the CEO at that time) will leave by the end of the year. Meisel’s decision to exit the company was driven by a desire to “recharge, spend time with his family, and pursue public policy interests,” said the company.
