The Consumer Electronic Association (CEA) has released its Five Technologies to Watch for 2005…Recordable High Definition Content, Robotics, Digital Home Studio, Games and TV.
Mobile phones pop up in some of these categories in passing…for example the paper claims that “one quarter of online adults expect to play games on their wireless handsets”, and of course the do-it-yourself content trend will be supported by high-end mobile handsets with extensive multimedia capabilities. Mobile phones or content are not one of the trends, which is related to the fact that people are not going to do things with mobiles just because they can — but if mobile services fulfill a need or trend they can do well.
