“WolrdSpace’s Pricing Beyond Logic”

This is a reader’s comment, and I thought it’s very relevant:
“This has reference to the recent festive offer from WorldSpace India. I bought a BPL Diva set in September for Rs 4300 which they are now offering for Rs 1500. I don’t know how this great price crash has come about in less than a month. There has been no significant drop in price index in general, therefore it seems the company had earlier inflated the cost of set and effectively duped countless customers like me. I wish forum like this would highlight the malpractices of so called reputed companies who are taking gullible customers for a ride.”
Karat adds: Can anyone explain this? I too noticed this advertisment by WorldSpace announcing a major price cut. But then it’s also a usual practice in the auto industry. For instance, you will be a loser if the car company drops the price the next day you have bought a car. Or if the next day it anounces the arrival of a new model or variant. Market works in strange ways.
