AudioFeast Closed; PodBridge Born

Stumbled upon this company through a job posting on Craigslist: podBridge. The SF-based site hasn’t been launched yet, but the posting says it is a venture backed company, and has signed podcasting deals with Wall Street Journal, BBC, Bloomberg, and Discovery Channel, among others.

Major, right…well, some basic sleuthing, and looks like another reincarnation of AudioFeast, a company funded by Mayfield and Worldview Technology Partners to the tune of $10 million last year. It was a competitor to Audible (spoken word) but didn’t get much traction. The company is dead now, confirms Murgesh Navar, one of the founders of AudioFeast, and now the founder of PodBridge. “We informed AF listeners of this impending shut down in July and refunded consumer subscription fees,” he said in an e-mail.

AudioFeast started as Serenade Systems, changed its name to AudioFeast, then changed its CEO in April, and now this…

It seems like that least Mayfield is still backing PodBridge (it is listed among Mayfield ‘s portfolio), but Navar says that investor base in the new company will likely differ.
