The Economic Times Newspaper Set For A Total Revamp; To Be Split Into Two

Exclusive: For the watchers of traditional media, this a big, big news. The Economic Times, India’s largest selling and read business newspaper, is going through a major revamp. According to sources, the paper is going to be split into two – ET One and ET Two. To be frank, they are not necessarily the names of the papers. But the gist is that ET will have two sections: One, dedicated for consumer-related stories or the news you can use. And the Two, for corporate and policy news.
This is going to be first such experiment globally. I have never heard of any newspaper doing such a thing.
There is more: apparently, there will be two editors – one in charge of the consumer paper and the other in charge of coporate and policy news. Most probably, the current Delhi Resident Editor Rahul Joshi will be in charge of ET One and the current Associate Editor Rajrishi Singhal will be in charge of ET Two.
So ET is going to go through a big experiment. It’s the brainchild of the newspaper’s publisher Sameer Jain. He has been instrumental in making the paper a marketing success. Now let’s hope this move would take ET to next level. An internal circular is expected today or tomorrow.
