Google Wallet Rumor Mill Kicks Into Gear — Again

It’s not the first time but I fervently hope it’s the last. Another batch of sightings and clues have surfaced pointing to the launch of a Google payment service. Gary Price sums it up for anyone who cares about following the pre-announce guessing game.
Google carefully has been creating an “account” hub for users of its personalized services. It’s not a far stretch from that to adding in an option that securely stores a credit card number that can be used for purchases while you’re logged in on that account. If the clues are right, that’s where we’re heading. Remember, CEO Eric Schmitt has dismissed the idea that Google would be competing with PayPal as a bank-like alternative but is interested in facilitating payments — and that Google is looking for ways to charge for some of the videos being delivered via Google Video.
