Earnings: Apple By The Numbers

4Q05: — More than 1 million Nanos shipped in its first 17 days, which also were the last 17 days of the quarter.

– More than 6,451,000 iPods shipped (including Nano). Not enough for some analysts (sub. req.) who hoped for 7-8 million.

– Shipped 634,000 portables, new record for Apple.

– The Mac business accounted for 60 percent of total revenue.

– Shipped 634,000 iBooks, Powerbooks.

– Music accounted for 40 percent of total revenue.

– Apple retail stores grew 76 percent over same quarter, last year. Opened 14 stores; total stores up to 124. Profit was $35 million; associated manufacturing profit was $133 million.

Fiscal 2005: — Generated $13.93 billion in revenue.

– Record profit $1.3 billion

– Shipped 22.5 million iPods, up 409 percent.
