Following Google’s lead, Yahoo new version of its news search has added blog search..there’s no direct way to search blogs yet: A keyword search for online news will include a list of relevant Web logs, or “blogs,” displayed in a box to the right of the results. You can also see relevant images posted on Yahoo’s photo-sharing site, Flickr.
Or, you can plug in your query in the URL and search only blogs…
Staci adds: Yahoo is taking a pretty different tackfrom Google — the results are on the same page as news and, unlike Google Blog Search, Yahoo isn’t trying to be conprehensive. Yahoo product director Joff Redfern wouldn’t tell the AP how many blogs are included in the news search but said that the selection would be based on the most popular blogs among Yahoo users. (News sites can be submitted for the index but there’s no guarantee of acceptance.) Might be good if Yahoo could find a way to make it clear to users that its blog search intentionally is limited in scope.
Update: The product team’s post on the Yahoo Search Blog includes a promise that the blog search index will “ultimately include the 20+ million blogs from the blo.gs ping stream.”
