Amp’d has signed a 4-year sponsorship/content deal with the AMA Supercross Series/World Supercross GP which will let it broadcast live clips of the motorbike sport, as well as create a mobile channel for supercross fans with key highlights from races, interviews and more. Amp’d also has “exclusive mobile content rights to select supercross footage for live action video clips, ringtones, wallpapers, skins, screensavers and more for its Amp’d Live service”.
Perhaps more importantly for the incipient MVNO is the sponsorship part of the deal…”Amp’d Mobile will be included in supercross broadcasts on both the SPEED Channel and a network broadcast partner to be announced through :30 commercials, announcer mentions, billboards and interstitials; inclusion in live Internet broadcasts and banner ads on the official supercross website, http://www.supercross.cc.com; substantial on-site branding including Amp’d Mobile signage on the participants’ front number plate, finish line banners and structures, announcer towers and around the track; title sponsor of the “Tech Tower” and sampling opportunities at all supercross events, among other activities.”
The move fits in well with Amp’d’s target audience, and avoids going head-to-head with the big carriers in bidding for major sport content and advertising…
