Scripps Networks, world headquarters for HGTV, Food Network, DIY Network, Fine Living, Shop At Home and Great American Country (GAC), has an immediate opening for a Flash Developer in our Knoxville, Tennessee office.

Job Summary:

Creates Flash-based applications and designs for websites and other interactive outlets.

Duties and Responsibilities:


Utilize Macromedia Flash design and coding skills to develop and animate applications for websites and other interactive outlets.


Use software and media tools to transform static layouts into working Flash applications.


Write JavaScript, HTML and CSS.


Consult with internal groups on development requirements, such as timelines and costs, involved with creating Flash applications.


Communicate at production level with representatives from production, editorial, broadband, brand, technology, and other relevant groups involved with utilizing Flash applications.


Oversee freelance Flash designers as necessary.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:


Advanced skills in ActionScript 2.0, OOP development and concepts, Flash classes, Flash remoting, Flash video & Flash communication server, and XML


Strong knowledge of HTML, JavaScript, Dreamweaver, Fireworks, Photoshop, Acrobat, Outlook, Word, Excel, Mac OS operating system or Windows/XP.


Knowledge of server-side scripting language and other programming languages.


Ability to manage dynamic data (eg XML) in Flash.


Ability to work under tight deadlines with multiple people and departments.


Time management and organizational skills.


Ability to prioritize workload.


Ability to oversee the work of others.

Educational and Experience Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and 2 years of professional experience in coding and designing Flash applications.
