US operator Leap has signed up to get spanish-language and latino content from American Greetings through Univision Movil. The new content will include Univision Melodias — A catalog of more than 700 polyphonic ringtones licensed through more than 70 different music publishers, including Univision Music Group, Universal Latino, Warner Music Latino, EMI International and Sony International, Univision Sonidos — More than 180 audio tones and voice ringers including exclusive artist content from Univision Records, Fonovisa Records and Disa Records, and Univision Imagenes — Access to more than 400 images which include exclusive content of Univision’s on-air personalities, celebrities and athletes, as well as images of historical flags and landmarks targeted to the Hispanic community.
The content will be offered on Leap’s Cricket mobile service, which the operator claims has a 20% hispanic user base. Leap has a new pre-paid service which it is branding differently, as Jump, which will have different features…I’m not sure if the Cricket Clicks service (the brew-based content part of Cricket) will be available on Jump, but it would be a good idea considering the hispanic user base tends to prefer prepaid.
