Announcing: The Official MIPCOM Blog

mipcom1.gif Mipcom, one of the biggest TV and broadcasting conferences in the world, held in Cannes, France, has invited us to do the official blog out of the conference, from Oct 17-21. So we will, in our usual depth and breadth…

The 21-year old conference and trade show, managed by Reed Midem, is part of the Reed Business family. I’m glad a big conference like Mipcom is on the cutting edge, and progressive enough to let us do this and be completely hands-off. It is also keeping in line with Mipcom’s and Reed Midem’s attempts to move with the industry and incorporate more and more digital media related sub-conferences, panels and exhibits into their line of conferences.

Particularly interesting is the Mobile TV sub-conference and the Mobile TV awards, on October 19.

I hope other big conferences learn from this…I can certainly see the likes of CES, NCTA, CTAM or CTIA becoming more open.

Mike Butcher, our London-based contributing writer (former editor at New Media Age, senior editor for Industry Standard Europe and most recently the editor of Netimperative) will be writing for us out of the conference. If you’re going there and want to meet up with him, you can e-mail him here.

We will have the full slate: panels coverage, audio interviews, pictures, gossips and breaking news…see you in Cannes.
