Jim Moloshok, the former Warner Bros Online head, who was brought into Yahoo a few years ago with much fanfare (right after Terry’s reign started in 2002), has left the company and is joining HBO as the president of Media Ventures, a newly created position.
A badly kept secret in the industry was that Moloshok was feeling sidelined at Yahoo for at least the last year or so, after his venture Yahoo Platinum didn’t work out (or get the support within Yahoo–another way to look at it), and especially after Lloyd Braun came in to run Yahoo’s media efforts. Moloshok was waiting for his options to fully vest, and I suppose now it did.
Moloshok will be responsible for exploring new opportunities for HBO, focusing on the point of intersection between content and technology…He will report to Carmi Zlotnik, HBO’s executive VP of original programming, business development and new media.
