Deccan Herald: Indian government will soon start an initiative that would involve scanning more than a million books and manuscripts lining the shelves of libraries around the country and make them available at the click of a mouse. The recent task initiated by the Department of Infomation Technology under the Communications and IT Ministry, will involve scanning of books and other valuable written materials in the libraries of universities, IITs, research institutions, archives and even book stores. The Department has set up a National Digital Library Cell (NDLC) that would initiate the process of setting up a National Digital Library.
