Express Plans A Slew Of Print Magazines; Who Cares About Digital Future?

Exchange4Media.com: Indian traditional media groups haven’t still lost their love for old-fashioned print. Indian Express Group is planning a slew of magazines – some general interest and some specialist. We don’t have the details yet. But some sources say they are planning a personal finance magazine, besides others. Anyways, some of them will see light of day by end of the year.
But the point is Indian media groups are averse to building digital media properties. Ok, the only exception is The Times Of India group, whose Indiatimes is now a huge Internet property. Even the Hindustan Times Group or HT Media have missed the bus except that they have an online edition of their newspaper. India Today group is another prominent media group who doesn’t have a good online presence. They had a news portal in the late 1990s (indiatoday.com), which was later converted into ThenewsPaperToday.com, and was shut down subsequently in 2002. Now their presence in the online space is a joke.
