Lincoln Wallen, CTO of EA’s Mobile division, said that as mobile games get more complex — not just because of better handsets but also because things like community features will be necessary — some sort of middleware will be required by gaming companies…EA offers RenderWare mobile. Some other quotes:
“I think we’ve seen the market feel good about the fact that EA is in, because it sort of underlines that EA, as the largest games publisher, does see this market as a significant opportunity, and that’s good for everybody.”
“Our strategy involves bringing quite a lot of the Pogo titles to market. Pogo is our casual gaming online environment, which has a very strong community element to it, so it’s very well suited to mobile. There are many, many titles available within that Pogo envelope, so we feel we’ve got an offering for the non console gaming gamer.”
The interview covers a lot of EA’s movement into mobile games…
