I tend to take The Business’ stories with a pinch of salt…but it is reporting that news Corp is talking to Trader Classified Media, the Amsterdam based classified media giant which has been on the block for some time now.
Canadian multi-millionaire John McCall MacBain, the owner, appointed Morgan Stanley to review options for his company last month and there has been speculation that Google, Yahoo and eBay are interested.
MacBain owns 54 websites such as http://www.buysell.com and http://www.chinesebuysell.com and still owns 70% of the company he set up. Since, in effect, putting Trader on the market he has received four approaches, including some from so-called internet firms.
