Some management changes are afoot at Tivo, following the June appointment of ormer NBC Cable and Primedia CEO Tom Rogers as Tivo CEO. CFO Dave Courtney will transition out and wil leave the company in April next year. Brodie Keast, the Executive VP & GM, Consumer Division, is also leaving next week, and will join Seagate. Mark Roberts will take on an expanded tole in the company.
Tom Roger’s internal e-mail to staff, obtained by us:
“I’d like to announce some important organizational changes.
Dave Courtney has decided to resign from his management roles at TiVo, effective April 15, 2006. Dave will continue in this transition role to perform his current Divisional Executive and GM, CFO, and Board member responsibilities. I’d like to thank Dave for his contributions and commitment to TiVo over the past six and a half years. He has brought business and financial acumen and operational rigor to the Company. I wish him well and know he will be a strong contributor wherever he chooses to go, and I am really pleased that he has agreed to remain through next April to assist with a variety of issues and significant transitions.
Brodie Keast has decided to leave TiVo to accept the position of Senior Vice President and General Manager of the Consumer Electronics Business at Seagate Technology in Scotts Valley. His last day will be October 7. I’d like to thank Brodie for his leadership and many contributions in helping to build our business over the past six years. He has been especially helpful to me during my assimilation into TiVo. We all wish him the best in his new job.
While we will all miss Dave and Brodie, as we talked about at the Company meeting this week, we have an incredibly strong organization that is up to whatever challenges thrown our way.
We have some great performers who are ready and eager to step up and take on new and broader responsibilities and help lead us to the next level. Those strong people resources coupled with a very strong balance sheet with plenty of cash and essentially no debt, gives us the tools we need to get to that level.
So, I am very pleased to announce that Mark Roberts has agreed to take on an expanded role as SVP of the Consumer Products Group, adding Operations and IT to his responsibility. Mark will report to me. Effective immediately, Art Clessuras and Steve Zoppi will report to Mark. In this way, Mark will have end-to-end responsibility and accountability for all our consumer products and service. In the Consumer Division, Joe Miller, Katie Ho, and Todd Juenger will report to me while we conduct a search for a new Senior Vice President of Marketing and Sales.
Please join me in congratulating Mark on his expanded role, wishing Brodie all the best in his new job, and thanking Dave for his willingness to transition in a way that is so helpful to the Company. We’ve got a great deal of management talent. Changes like this give more people the opportunity to shine. Let’s keep the momentum going!”
