Digital Projection International, UFO Moviez Tie-up

Indiantelevision.com: Digital Projection International (DPI), which manufactures projection systems, has announced an agreement with the Mumbai based UFO Moviez. It is part of the Valuable Media Group, Asia’s largest vertically integrated technology solutions company in the areas of media and gaming. UFO Moviez represents this group’s first project in the digital cinema market. The third partner in this project is The Apollo Group, which has a diversity of interests including both media and commodity exports. DPI will install five hundred 3-Chip DLP projectors in India.
Regarded as the largest cinema market in the world, the Indian film industry is leading the rest of the world in terms of the number of films produced and the number of tickets sold annually. The number of films certified for release in 2004 reached a record high of 934, yet India has only approximately 12,900 cinema screens. With the theatre density at a meager 12.5 theatres per million people, India has the potential to absorb another 20,000 theaters in the short-term and it is exactly this gap that UFO Moviez and Digital Projection International intend to fulfill.
