First Half ’05 Web Ad Revs Up 26 Percent For Record $5.8 Billion

The PricewaterhouseCoopers’ report on the first half of 2005 won’t be published until next week but IAB released some preliminary numbers Monday at the MIXX Conference and Expo. Press release.
– Ad revenues for the first six months were approximately a record $5.8 billion, up 26 percent over the same period in ’04. Ad revenue for 2Q05 came to $2.985 billion, also up 26 percent over 2Q05 but only 6.6 percent over 1Q05.
– Search represents 40 percent ($2.3 billion) of the total, twice as as much as the next largest ad format category at 20 percent ($1.15 billion). Classifieds inched up to 18 percent ($1.04 billion) from 17 percent last year.
