Congratulations, Google

… for coming to your collective senses about dealing with the press. CNET’s story about Google’s index on steroids included quotes from an interview with Google CEO Eric Schmidt. Usually not an occurence worth noting on its own but notable given that Google has been openly snubbing since July, when Elinor Mills wrote about Googling Schmidt. The company told the news site it would grant no interviews until July 2006. The index story by Mills doesn’t make reference to the ban or to the resolution; had been adding a note about the interview ban to Google stories, explaining why there were no comments from the company.

Oh, and happy anniversary, too. Maybe turning seven marks a new level of maturity.
