Video Game Industry Tapping Indian Creative Talent

Game Daily Biz: After software and business processes, India is also proving to be a good outsourcing destination for offshoring video game development work.
“With development costs for large titles regularly surpassing $10 million today, the practice has gone from a rarity to one considerably more common. A recent AP report noted that 90 of the 250 cars built for Microsoft Game Studios’ Xbox racing title Forza were made by Dhruva Interactive, based out of Bangalore. “Our real advantage is that we can combine low costs with abundant creative talent and programming skills that can be tapped here,” Dhruva owner Rajesh Rao said.
“In [India], we can hire animators and game programmers for 10-20% of going U.S. salaries. We plan to develop video games for international and domestic markets. India is not just a place for low cost game development outsourcing. It is a potentially huge market,” RedOctane Founder & VP of Business Development Charles Huang said.
