WCities — which publishes travel guides — is focussing on content for growth, which is a good idea for that application. Anyway, VP Fraser Campbell gave his opinions on the strengths and weaknesses of the mobile market.
On mobile content’s strength, Campbell said, “Mobile content is with you all the time, the mobile phone is a part of a lifestyle, by your bed, in the office, in the car, everywhere. You might as well glue it to your hip, pocket or purse. Giving access to relevant information at the right time is important, when the consumer demands he is going to get it, if not from you, someone else will provide it.”
And on limitations, Campbell said, “Limitations are cost of data usage on the phone networks, coverage in some respects, customer habits, and the ability to stand out in the crowd from all the other offerings.”
