Tech publishing company Ziff Davis has acquired GameTab, a small site which aggregates news and review scores, reports Gamasutra. The acquisition fills a hole in Ziff Davis’ online gaming publishing operations, and shores up a particular area in which the company was relatively underpowered against major competitors IGN Entertainment and CNET Networks, says the story. ZD’s own gaming revenues have been hit hard over the last few quarters, because of decline in print advertising. According to its latest 10-Q earnings for Q2, revenue for the Game Group for Q2 was $9.0 million, down $1.9 million or 17% compared to $10.9 million in the same period last year.
