@ DH: Day 3: Broadband Video & Advertising

Day three of the Digital Hollywood, and the conference wound up…by the end of it, everyone realized that what was said on the broadband related panel on day one was the same as what was said at the end of day three, 50 panels later…but hey, you already knew that. It was good to see some non-Hollywood voices in the mix: Suranga Chandratillake, founder of Blinkx, the video search engine, and Jeremy Allaire, CEO of Brightcove, who, as usual, is the sanest voice anywhere he goes.

What everyone realizes is that despite all the numbers about broadband penetration and the increasing amount of video content, the fact remains, there isn’t a lot of video content online, and there isn’t a lot of money in video advertising right now. This is still a late-2007 market, not this year…but the players are not resting and arming up for when all the pieces come together.
