Wireless Content Adds to Revenue Assurance Complexity

Carl Geppert from KPMG does a good job of outlining the complexities of billing for mobile content and ensuring everyone gets paid the money they are owed. This post is completely useless to consumers but should be of interest to everyone in the industry. Just a few quotes:
“The self-reported statements that carriers produce play a key role in allowing them or the content owners to determine how much is owed to the various parties. KPMG’s experience with the self-reporting economy in Western Europe suggests that 70 percent of self-reported statements from a variety of sources (wireless carriers, online music providers and other digital content outlets) are incorrect“.
There is also no reporting standard, which would not only give everyone involved a clear idea of what is expected of them but also allow them to transfer billing information easily.
