Some more details from the News Corp Summit held about 10 days ago in Caramel, CA (FT had some eearly details here): the meeting, with about 40 people in total, was held over two days. The mood, to put it mildly, is euphoric, as described by multiple people who attended the meeting.
The first day was a presentation by the present crop of properties within the News Corp umbrella, and the second day was presentations by the recently acquired companies. Besides the internal presentations, external speakers were George Gilder, representatives from Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, and John Battelle, among others.
From what I gather, it was a very cosy meeting, and everyone came out pretty happy with the way things are going, and realize that the hardest work is ahead, firstly integrating the new acquires, and then implementing on them.
The most surreal moment of the two days came when Roger Ailes, the recently promoted chairman of Fox Television, was trying to hang out with the MySpace founders…and sound hip.
Anyway, more such regular meetings are planned for the company.
And oh yes, Fox Interactive Media has wrapped up at least a couple of more acquisitions, not yet announced…of course, you’ll hear about them here first, as usual.
