Apple’s Jobs Warns On Music Pricing

Steve Jobs is skeptical that consumers will be willing to pay more than the 99c price set by iTunes for song downloads. At a news conference in Paris he reiterated his stance that consumers will not be willing to pay a premium for music to be able to download it over the mobile network: “It is not clear that buying songs over the air makes economic sense,” Jobs said. “I am skeptical because of the cost … but we will see.” That’s true, but a lot of things that consumers do don’t make economic sense…
It’s not just mobile music, Jobs also berated record companies for their attempts to increase the price of songs on iTunes. “If they want to raise the prices, it means that they are getting greedy,” he said. He also refused to say whether Apple planned to release an all-Apple made iPod phone…
