Left marooned by the U.S. Supreme Court decision that ruled against it, West Indies-based Grokster Ltd. may be looking for a safe haven with newcomer Mashboxx LLC. The talks described by the Wall Street Journal suggest that Mashboxx basically would take over Grokster in exchange for a percentage of future revenues earned under the Grokster name. Grokster’s ownership remains unclear and the company remains the target of numerous lawsuits. However, the RIAA reportedly is considering dropping the suits in exchange for Grokster turning its definition of legit.
Not completely sure what Mashboxx would gain except white-hat status for bring Grokster into the fold.
