More Movement In Adult Mobile Content

GlobeAndTechnology.com has published a fairly sensationalist article warning of an invastion of mobile pornography…to set the tone it starts “Obscene phone calls are about to become a growth market”. There are some good points though…for example one owner of a chain of 91 adult video stores closed all but 10 of them to gear up for mobile adult content. “It’s certainly coming, and we’ll be there,” Mr. Jorgensen said. “The storefront retail market is dead and dying, as content is available by digital streaming,” he adds. “We’re in talks with carriers, and we have a library of material ready.”
It also pointed out something I wasn’t aware of, Voooyeur.com. This is a user-generated adult site, where people send in their own pictures to possibly win 250 EURO for sending in the most voted picture of the month. User-generated content in general is expected to be big…
Mystique MagazineIn other news, Brickhouse Mobile has signed up with Mystique Magazine to offer “exclusive video clips from Mystique Magazine’s popular television programming and DVD series, as well as mobile wallpapers from its’ exotic international photo shoots”.
Cherrysauce has updated its portal to incorporate “all of the new technology features now available on mobile as well as many forthcoming technologies and services due to hit the market in the near future”. This is a white-label portal…
“The mobile portal, wap.cherrysauce.com has complete global billing & reporting, i-mode support, 3g, wap and xhtml capabilities and the immense database of content from many of the world’s leading creators, producers and developers is dynamically driven. This allows Cherrysauce to create multiple versions of the original portal for operators and other mobile brands looking for a professional, premium quality erotic addition to their existing business.”
What else…RedHerring has reported that Penthouse — which is now losing money on its traditional publishing business — is moving into TV and mobile content. It’s going into TV first but is planning to move into mobile “aggressively”. Interesting figures: “The TV broadcasting initiative has potential. Rival Playboy made net income of $11.9 million on $50.5 million in entertainment sales during the first quarter. During the same period, Playboy’s publishing operations lost $400,000 on sales of $27 million.”
