Total coincidence that I wound up with two automobile sponsorship announcements on my desk at the same time but now that I think about it, auto dealers and manufacturers have been willing to experiment online.
– Acura is underwriting podcasts originating on NPR, according to Billboard Radio Monitor. The sponsorship includes a display ad on the NPR Podcast Directory, still in beta.
– Chevrolet will sponsor AOL’s new reality series “The Biz” as part of its campaign for the 2006 Chevrolet HHR. The sponsorship runs from Aug. 1 through Nov. 30. Chevy already sponsors AOL Music Sessions. This sponsorship gives Chevy “prominent brand placement” wherever “The Biz” is promoted across AOL, AOL.com, AIM, AOL Music and the AOL Music Network.
