Namco, which is ramping up its own mobile efforts, especially in U.S., wants to sell a significant proportion of the stock it owns in mobile content company Nikkatsu. Namco first acquired Nikkatsu in 1997 for 3 billion yen and today it retains about 74% of the company. In April, Namco first tried to sell Nikkatsu to its former owner, Usen Gaga. This failed in the face of opposition from Namco and Nikkatsu’s shareholders.
